From the street, it looks like any other house. But step inside and walk down the staircase to the basement of Michael Adam Assenberg’s home and you’ll find four rooms brimming with marijuana plants. Assenberg, a 52-year-old medical marijuana patient, runs a medical marijuana dispensary out of his home in Colfax, where he houses nearly 50 flowerpots of cannabis. And now, he has big plans for a career change next year: running for Whitman County sheriff.
